This wasn’t a simple patio installation. It required careful material selection, precise pattern execution across multiple areas, and lighting installation that created the desired ambiance. Here’s a look at how it came together.
At the center of the backyard remodel, we designed and installed a natural flagstone patio using natural flagstone. The irregular natural stone gives the space an organic, timeless quality — each piece unique, the overall effect earthy and grounded in the Lowcountry landscape. We set the patio flush to grade with tight, consistent spacing throughout — no rocking, no uneven joints.
No outdoor transformation is complete without the details that bring it to life after dark. As part of this project, we installed a low-voltage landscape lighting system throughout the property — illuminating the paver walkways, accenting the arbor and pergola structure, and casting a warm glow across the flagstone patio for evening use. The lighting was positioned to highlight the hardscape lines and guide movement naturally from the front of the property to the waterfront without over-lighting any single area.
The project also included a custom water feature integrated into the rear seating area. The sound and presence of moving water adds an ambient quality to the backyard that ties the whole space together — grounding the outdoor living area in the natural Lowcountry setting and giving the property a sense of calm that no patio alone can provide.
